His notebooks contain ideas for essays and editorials, miscellaneous playbills, articles, etc. concerning early Grand Forks theatre and opera, and Articles of Association and By-Laws of the Pioneer Club, 1st ed., 1883.

W.P. Davies was born on a farm near Brantford, Ontario, October 29, 1862. Davies was raised and educated near Newport, Ontario. He went to work at the age of 15 as a clerk in a grocery store. In 1882, Davies immigrated to North Dakota. He worked as a railroad surveyor near Jamestown and then began to farm near Angus in 1885. In 1885, Davies married Rachel Spence (d. 1939) of Ethel, Ontario, a union that produced two children, Mabel S. and Russel G. The Davies family move...
